It's the little things...

I got a huge smile on my face today when this arrived in the mail. I didn't order it, it is just a sample but just seeing Littleput Books in print made me feel like a real & actual company. It is a funny feeling going from crafter to business person and while I'm not quite there yet I really enjoy the idea of the grown up version of my career. :)

So my question to you is:
do you want pens as promotional items?
& what colors should I order?

:)

Happy Saturday, I leave tomorrow for my trip to the bay area, I'll try to blog while I bounce around, I hope you all have an incredible week!

I used pens promotionally for my general store. One was always on the counter for charge-slip signing & at least 2 boxes of replacements were always available to replace that one. You *want* them to take the pen. You *hope* they will.

I never had to give them away ... so I can't give you advice there. But, if you do decide to invest in them, make them a comfortable weight & a good ink ... and then be prepared to start leaving them at the bank, at the dry cleaners, at the post office ...

It's a hit-or-miss sort of promotion, especially if you aren't a b&m ~ I'll be curious to see what you decide.

I will be honest and say that I don't think a pen would convince me to make a purchase, or even to check out a web site. Your products are beautiful and well made. That is what will make the customers come back. I still have a pen from an online purchase I made years ago. It's one of my favorite pens, but I haven't been to the web site since.

But if you do give them out, it would be cool if they came in a variety pack and you could give a pen that coordinated with the item purchased, especially if the purchase was one of your books.

Cozy, that is what I was thinking of, sending pens with my journals, it is kind of a nice fit. I probably wouldn't hand them out like business cards but I like the idea of having a little extra thank you that includes my URL :)

I think pens and journals are a great match!

I have one place I order from that always sends pens and I love them. I don't know if I buy from her because I want a pen, but the company name on the pens (which I use all the time because I really love them) reminds me where to find that particular supply.

i like pens! i have pens and just LOVE having them around for when someone gets an extra big order or i liked them an extra lot. i have them at my craft show tables to sign the mailing list and to hand out. they are great becasue they will linger around for a bit longer than a business card. also, you can leave them at coffeeshops and other places where you could sneal in a little advertising!
