List and photo courtesy of adora-seller BoyGirlParty.etsy.com It is hard not to panic when sales slow, either on Etsy, in the real world or anywhere else. Having done this selling thing for a while now, the January/February sales drop is something I come to expect and even enjoy. It helps me rethink my goals as a seller and gives me a chance to pause and look at what worked and what didn't in the year past. I've revved up my to-do list and if you're feeling the slowing sale jitters now is the perfect time to spiff up your game plan.
To Do. (with commentary)
1. Update my Flickr I'd love to get in the habit of posting new photos daily.
2. Take photos so I have something to post on Flickr daily.
3. Blog more. My poor neglected blog, it is in dire need of a facelift and some serious spell check, I'm on it!
4. Enhance my new New Line and expand on it. I love delving into new projects and no matter what I try I always learn something that can enhance my established work.
(This is a perfect time for lots of you to get creative and see what great new idea you can stumble onto)
5. Research Etsy advertisng co-op. The Co-operative program & spend some time finding new blogs and online magazines to contact.
6. Streamline my shop for Wedding season, Spring & Summer. Winter is out and I need to get my shop ready for these upcoming markets, staying seasonal is something EVERY retailer needs to focus on.
7. Refocus my wholesale line & look into putting out a catalogue (???)
8. Take a vacation!
9. Do inventory. What sold, what didn't sell, what do people want more of, less of, how I can focus my successful items and stay on target with what works?
10. Revamp personal and profile information. Retake bad photos, give my whole atmosphere a makeover to make it more inviting to all.
11. Network. Etsy is a small community and I need to branch out and say hello to a bigger one.
HELLO!

Thanks Ryan! It's time to get busy, even when the shop isn't... :)
great tips, there, and I like your new pendant line. here's hoping it doesn't get copied *too* soon.
What a great To-do list! I'm thinking I may just "to-do" some of those things myself :)
Copying ;).
Excellent list.
And my thoughts ran along the lines of geelizzie's - it will be harder to copy these as they contain your original photos. Smart, smart, smart.
Also, I have wanted to tell you for the longest time, I think the selling of a scrabble pendant tutorial is one of the more brilliant ideas you have had.
Aha - your to do list is now also my to do list. You're so much help! Thanks!!!
Great ideas. You reminded me that I needed to update my Flickr, lol :) I'll be working on many of the other suggestions as well.
Excellent! Thank you for your words of wisdom! Very inspiring!
